Chewings Fescue

Chewings Fescue has a more upright growth than the Creeping Fescue but it has the fine texture of the fine Fescue group of grasses. Chewings Fescue is a bunch type Fescue forming a dense turf.

Chewings Fescue (Festuca rubra rubra commutata) is a widely used species in the UK. This species provides fine texture and low maintenance qualities. This sub species does not have rhizomes and it does favour well drained, chalky soils. This grass is very aggressive on clay soils and dominates other species when under low fertility conditions.
