Tufted Hairgrass Cespitosa

Tufted Hairgrass is a tall perennial grass with rough leaves forming dense tufts which develops into large tussocks.

Tufted hairgrass is found growing on wet and poorly drained soils, habitats include marshy fields, rough grassland and woodlands. It has the ability to transport oxygen down to its root system giving it the advantage when on waterlogged sites. When not grazed or mowed it will form large tussocks with densly packed leaf shoots, this gives it the chance to dominate the area they grow.
