Yorkshire Fog is widely distributed grass in the British Isles, can be found on a range of habitats including lawns, arable land, waste ground and woods. It occurs in a range of soil types, poorly drained, waterlogged, low fertility and nutrient rich soils. It has adapted to growing well in wet conditions but can survive a moderate drought however, this does restrict growth rate. Yorkshire Fog requires a pH level of 5.0 and 7.5. This species is very efficient at colonising open ground from seed.
